Plus Markets is in talks with ICAP to shed its loss-making Plus Stock Exchange (Plus SX).

In a statement to shareholders, the group noted the recent press speculation over the cash equities recognised investment exchange Plus-SX and confirmed that it was "in talks with ICAP that may lead to the disposal of its subsidiary company... for a nominal amount due to the loss making nature of Plus-SX."

It added: "As indicated in previous announcements, the board believe that this would be in the best interests of shareholders to preserve remaining shareholder value. There can, however, be no certainty that a transaction will complete.

"There are currently no discussions ongoing in relation to any offer for the group at this time."
